An explosion occurred on Friday evening in the Aino area in Paghman district, west of Kabul city, targeting a vehicle in which family members of writer and analyst Assadullah Walwalji were traveling, police said.

Walwaji’s wife and his daughter were killed in the attack.

Six people were also wounded in the attack, including four members of Walwaji’s family.

Walwalji himself was not traveling in the vehicle.

No group has claimed responsibility.

The attack has sparked widespread criticism from Afghans on social media, who blamed the security agencies for their inability to prevent such incidents.
